What Happens When You Die?
Have you ever wondered what happens after you take your last breath? What happens when your heart beats one last and final time?
You may think, “Well, no one really knows the answer to that question.” However, that’s not true. God knows! Not only does he know, but he wants us to know as well, so he told us.
Hebrews 9:27 "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgement."
Mystery solved. You don’t have to wonder anymore. You can know for a fact exactly what is awaiting you after you pass on.
You will stand before God and be judged!
Now you’re probably wondering, “What exactly will I be judged for, and why am I being judged.”
The short answer is God is a righteous judge, and he holds everyone accountable for wickedness that they do, and that wickedness is called sin. Sin is rebelling against him and his law. All found guilty of sin will be condemned and sentenced to a second death which God describes as being thrown into a lake of fire and brimstone, and it is a fire that will never burn out.
But wait, there’s good news!
God is righteous indeed and needs to hold the guilty accountable, but he is also love. He is a very loving God. The Bible in fact says about God,
John 3:16, “God so loved the world, he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
So, God provided a way for those guilty of sin to avoid the lake of fire. He provided his Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus came to cancel that death sentence on us by becoming a literal ransom. He offered his life to save our life. His shed blood was the atonement for our sins. He died so we that we don't have to die.
So, because of Christ, salvation has come to all mankind, but salvation is free only for those that receive it. You cannot deny Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and still receive the salvation he provides.
You must first accept him.
You must believe in him and his word.
You must trust him.
You must follow him.
You must begin to build a relationship with him. This is possible for all people because the Bible says that after Jesus gave up his life by being crucified on the cross, he was buried, but three days later he rose from the dead, and he is alive forever more.
There are many deceivers in the world that would convince you that God does not want to save all people, and that he is not offering salvation to all people, but God is saying to you, whoever you are, come to him and call on him.
Romans 10:13 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Tomorrow is promised to no one, but eternal life in Jesus Christ is promised to all that would believe.
So, come!
Make the decision today to believe and receive Jesus Christ into your life.
This is the best decision you can ever make.
